A
second chance for better health
Can
you imagine having two heart attacks when you think you're in great
shape? Although Mike Friedberger, a product development manager
in Piscataway, never formally exercised, he thought that staying
active was enough to keep him healthy.
It
wasn't until after undergoing emergency quadruple bypass surgery
that he learned about his heart attacks and that his arteries were
highly blocked. "I was always confident that I was in great
shape," he says. Since his surgery, he's kept up a healthy
diet and exercise routine for over five years. And now he can learn
even more about his health and well-being through LifeSteps. "Even
if you think you're in great shape, you might be a ticking time
bomb," says Mike. "Good habits like maintaining a healthy
diet and exercise program are the best things that you can do for
yourself.
Building
a healthier lifestyle is at the heart of LifeSteps, and so are health
screenings and early detection. So I encourage all employees to
take advantage of the program. I wish I had taken this advice before
I had to learn it the hard way!"
